Education & Student Success
Designing curriculum, mentoring emerging scholars, expanding college access, and building programs that help first-generation and historically underserved students persist and flourish.
Educator · Researcher · Entrepreneur · Systems Designer
I work at the intersection of human-centered design, education, accessibility, student success, curriculum, and social impact—turning complex challenges into practical systems that expand opportunity.

About Wendelin
For more than two decades, I have designed and improved human-centered systems across technology, accessibility, higher education, curriculum design, college access, student success, and organizational change.
Across every role, I have returned to the same question: Who wasn't considered when this system was designed? That question has shaped how I approach research, teaching, leadership, entrepreneurship, and the design of learning environments.
My work is grounded in the belief that people should not have to overcome poorly designed systems to unlock their full potential. Better systems begin by recognizing human variation, listening deeply, and creating multiple paths to participation, achievement, and belonging.
What I Do
My work spans multiple fields, but the goal remains consistent: create conditions in which people can participate fully and succeed.
Designing curriculum, mentoring emerging scholars, expanding college access, and building programs that help first-generation and historically underserved students persist and flourish.
Applying Human Factors, accessibility, research, and inclusive design to reveal barriers, improve experiences, and make complex systems work better for more people.
Translating lived experience, professional expertise, research, and customer discovery into scalable solutions for educational and social challenges.
A Multidisciplinary Journey
Designed and evaluated user experiences, interfaces, and systems for organizations including Microsoft and Boeing-related design teams.
Led accessibility, communications, and inclusion initiatives across higher education and healthcare environments.
Built college-access programs, supervised student teams, developed curriculum, taught university courses, and mentored students across the educational journey.
Pursuing an EdD in Curriculum Studies while developing CAPES Academy through research, customer discovery, incubator programs, and venture-building.
Current Venture
CAPES Academy is developing a new modality of non-clinical support that integrates coaching, mentoring, and facilitation. The venture is designed to prepare a new workforce capable of helping students and families build social, emotional, executive-functioning, communication, relationship, and self-advocacy capabilities.
The Throughline
My career has moved through design, technology, accessibility, education, research, teaching, and entrepreneurship—not as separate chapters, but as different ways of exploring the same challenge.
How do we create systems that recognize human variation, remove unnecessary barriers, and help people discover new possibilities for themselves?
WendelinDunlap.com is being redesigned as a home for that work: a place to share projects, research, teaching, writing, venture development, and the ideas connecting them.
